So, who is Daniel? Some of you may know that my partner is Jim (aka Gingerheaddad). He writes a lot about Daniel and his other children on his blog. Daniel is 7 years-old and on the autism spectrum. When I first met Jim, Daniel was non-verbal. He’s now progressed to being pre-verbal – he can say single words spontaneously and is echolalic. Jim has an HP TouchPad but therapeutic apps just don’t exist on the WebOS platform.

I know Daniel would do wonderfully with an iPad. One of Daniel’s strengths is his ability to read and write – he loves letters and words and will write anywhere – in chalk on the sidewalk, on his magic pad, he’ll even type on his Dad’s BlackBerry. I can just imagine that over time Daniel would blow people away if he had access to a text to speech app. He’s a visual learner and right now Jim uses PECs to help him but having access to apps that would help Daniel with transitions as well as learn new skills, would be wonderful.

Thank you in advance for helping me try to win this iPad2 for Daniel. I know it would make a huge difference in his life.

      • Thank you so much for jumping on this bandwagon. The voting on the blog closed yesterday and we had 565 votes in the form of likes, tweets and blog comments. We just have to wait until October 1st to find out if we win.

I have a touchpad that I use with my son. It has been a great help, but there are very few apps that he can use that build skills. The ipad will make more progress possible.

        Thank you again so much.

Small But Kinda Mighty who is a wonderful person in so many ways, added extra awesome to the universe by writing a blog that could earn my son an iPad. Please take a look at her post and follow the directions.

The wealth of apps available on an iPad would help him continue his progress in speech, behaviour and social skills.

Thank you to Small But Kinda Mighty for her tremendous support.
