Just a quick post to update you all on a couple of exciting developments and to let you know why, until September, I likely won’t be posting as frequently as I would like to.
Guest app reviewer at The iMums
I will continue to review apps here at SBKM but I’m thrilled to report that I’m also going to be reviewing apps for The iMums as well. The iMums is a great site where you can find reviews of both apps and other products of interest to mums, giveaways, interviews with developers and more. You can read my first review of an app called Rocket Speller Plus here – if you don’t yet have a copy of this excellent app worth $2.99 then click on the link and go enter the giveaway for it.
Smarty Ears Advisory Board Member
Smarty Ears is a developer of high quality, research-based, speech and language apps designed by speech and language pathologists. The founder of Smarty Ears and creator of over 30 of their apps is Barbara Fernandes, also known as GeekSLP. Barbara was one of the first people to recognize the potential that mobile technology would have to assist SLPs, teachers and parents and since setting up Smarty Ears in 2009, the company has now produced more than 50 apps.
The advisory board is comprised mostly of SLPs who provide input and feedback during the planning stages of app development and are also involved in beta testing the apps before release. Smarty Ears recently had a couple of spots open up on it’s advisory board so I applied to join. I was honoured and more than a little surprised to be chosen as one of the new board members! I’m excited that I’ve been given the opportunity to provide input from the perspective of both a parent user and app reviewer.
This is the move that never ends…
I started getting our house ready to put on the market in March so honestly, it feels like this move had lasted forever. Anyway, we are physically moving house in a week’s time and then the home sale closes on August 19th. We’ve then got a couple of weeks to settle in and get acclimatized to the new neighbourhood before school starts. So until Labour Day weekend I’ll be pretty busy wrapping up this seemingly never-ending move. If I don’t post as frequently in August then you’ll know why.
I’ve got my tiara firmly planted on my head and a to-do list a mile long to get started on. If someone could just make me a coffee…?
