Modern crochet baby blanket pattern: Day 4 of the Relax and Hook blog hop

Modern crochet baby blanket pattern: Day 4 of the Relax and Hook blog hop features The Johnny Blanket. There are so many things to love about this design and I've listed them below but in brief, its simplicity, as well as its modern, gender neutral look make this pattern a big winner for me.

The Johnny Blanket

Today's featured FREE pattern is for the The Johnny Blanket from Golden Pine Creations. If you're also a knitter then you will definitely want to check out all of Camilyn's beautiful knitted designs. I am a huge fan of her ethos regarding using yarn crafts as a way to avoid chores and if you are too then definitely give her a follow on Instagram and thank her for participating in this event:

As promised, here's all the reasons why I love this unisex baby blanket pattern, in addition to its modern design:

  • The body of the blanket combines basic, foundational stitches (single and double crochet) to create lovely, textured fabric
  • The fabric is created using a one-row repeat that is easy to increase or decrease in size. The border of the blanket is also easy to crochet and simple to adjust to work with any size fabric.
  • It's quick and easy to make!

This is a perfect mindful (mindless?!) crochet project and I really appreciate that Camilyn let me include this pattern in the Relax and Hook event.

Cotton is a popular material for blankets because it is soft, breathable, and easy to care for. Cotton blankets come in a variety of weights and textures, from lightweight, thermal throwsmooth blankets for warm weather to heavier, textured blankets for colder weather.
