Crochet sock pattern toe up (perfect for Socktober!)
If you've ever wondered whether you can crochet socks:
- using sock yarn,
- making not a slipper, but a sock,
- a sock that you can wear, with shoes!
Wonder no more because with my crochet toe up sock pattern you definitely can.
Crocheted fabric is essentially a combination of knots so you will likely "feel" these socks more than hand knit ones when you first start wearing them. But I find they get progressively more comfortable the more you wash and wear them.
In my pattern I take you through the steps of making a toe up crochet sock with an afterthought heel. You start by working both sides of a foundation chain - a technique you can also use to crochet an oval amigurumi piece.
I will add here the crochet sock video tutorials from my YouTube channel as they are published. These demonstrate how to:
Make the toe piece
Crochet the foot, leg and heel break
Crochet the ribbed cuff
* crochet the afterthought heel,
* finish your crochet sock.
Crochet sock workshop
If you are local to Hamilton, Ontario and missed out on this month's crochet sock workshop, that's, not a problem. You can either book a private lesson with me or if you and a friend (or more!) want to work on a crochet sock group project together then contact me to arrange.
Small But Kinda Mighty Crochet Club
Anyone who purchases one of my crochet patterns or who takes a crochet workshop with me can join the SBKM Crochet Club on Facebook. Share photos of your WIPs, get real time crochet support from me and the other crocheters in the group and more.
What's Socktober?
In October, people are encouraged to donate socks for people who urgently need them in advance of winter. If you're local then you can drop off new pairs of socks (whether handmade or not) at Handknit Yarn Studio any time this month and they will be donated to local shelters at the end of October.
