Joining Granny Squares with single crochet
For those of you who want to crochet granny squares together, I have recorded a video tutorial which takes you through, step by step, how to join granny squares for a blanket using single crochet stitches.
As you may know, I am an avid supporter of Project Linus, a non-profit organization that brings quilters and yarn crafters together, and matches their handmade blankets with children and youth in crisis. These families need the comfort, warmth and support that only a handmade hug can provide.
My local Project Linus co-ordinator shared that she often receives donations of squares, and asked if I could put together a video tutorial that she and other blanketeers could use, on how to crochet these squares together. So, here you go!
Want to learn how to make granny squares?
I would love to help you do that! If you're in the Hamilton area and you can comfortably make both single and double crochet stitches in rows, then I teach a workshop on Granny Squares at Handknit Yarn Studio. The next workshop will be on September 27th, 2025 but its not yet up on their website. In it we will go over how to make a classic single colour granny square, how to make an alternate (with smaller holes), how to change colours, edge your square, and how to add a border.
If you're a complete crochet beginner, or could use a refresher, then sign up for my Beginner Crochet workshop, also hosted by Handknit.
Not local? Do not despair!
I still want to help you in your crochet journey, so feel free to book a call with me to discuss how I can best support you. If you already know you learn easily online and are just interested in resources, I have a free ebook for crochet beginners as well as supplementary videos for beginners on my YouTube channel.
Upcoming releases
Wondering what else I have on the go? Here's a taste of what I have coming up:

- Publishing the (long awaited!!) video tutorial for the optional border on my Simplicity Shawl.
- Publishing the pattern and video tutorial for "The Path is the Destination" cowl
Make sure you're signed up for my emails if you don't want to miss any of these.
