Mandala Art Therapy: Day 6 of the Relax and Hook blog hop
Mandala Art Therapy: Mandalas have long had both spiritual and therapeutic importance. Art therapists employ drawing mandalas, or simply colouring them in, as a way of relieving stress and accessing mindfulness. So I love that we have a mandala as part of our Relax and Hook event - the Maya Mandala bag by crisdvic.
The Maya Mandala Bag
The featured FREE pattern for Day 6 of the Relax and Hook blog hop is the Maya Mandala Bag from crisdvic. Cristina has two patterns as part of this event so please give her a follow on Instagram and thank her for participating:
I will probably end up writing a separate blog post about mandalas and mindful crochet but in brief:
- the circular nature of mandalas makes them, like Granny projects, perfect ways to use crochet to help develop and reinforce mindfulness practice
- A circle bag is a quick and easy project. This design uses mainly basic stitches and you don't need to get stressed about gauge either
- Mandalas can be made from one colour; be visually calming with a soothing texture. Or you can deploy colour therapy and mix and match as many colours and textures as you choose
Click on the button below to head to Ravelry, add the pattern for The Maya Mandala Bag to your cart and then use the code MINDFULCROCHET at checkout. The discount only applies from 8.00am (EDT) on September 6th, 2022 to 8:00am (EDT) on September 7th, 2022.
