Amigurumi crochet patterns for characters that help you celebrate Halloween and the Fall.
Buster the Ghost
A few years ago I wanted to crochet a mini amigurumi ghost, but all the patterns I could find were for ones you could hang up; none of them were designed to stand. So, I decided to design my own. As is often the case, my son Oliver adopted the prototype and called him Buster, which I thought was a perfect name for a chubby little ghost!
Buster is terrific for busting stash as he only uses up a small amount of yarn. He would also be a perfect Halloween treat to give out instead of candy.
Included with the pattern is a copy of my version of The Canterville Ghost, originally a short story by Oscar Wilde.
To complete this pattern you’ll need:
Worsted weight yarn in white
Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook
7.5mm black safety eyes
Polyester stuffing
Yarn needle
Black embroidery floss for the (optional) smile
This pattern is quick and straightforward to make: single crochet in the round, increases and decreases.
Seamus the Pumpkin
I designed this pumpkin a couple of years ago. Back then, even though there were seemingly endless pumpkin patterns out there, I couldn't find one that was both creepy and cute, or one where the indents in the gourd were not made by tying threads around the outside.
Included with the pattern is a copy of my story, The Legend of Stingy Jack o' the lantern, a retelling of an Irish folklore legend regarding the origin of making jack o'lanterns for Halloween.
To complete this pattern you’ll need:
Worsted weight yarn in orange, green, brown and white
Size F (3.75 mm) crochet hook
12 mm black safety eyes
Polyester (or other) stuffing
Yarn needle
This pattern is fiddly in places and I wouldn't recommend it for absolute beginners.
